The morning of the day my husband was planning to donate blood plasma, he was suffering a bad headache. He said he had drunk a lot of water the previous day and he was still drinking water in the morning, but headache was too bad and he gave up going to the blood donation. I suspected he drank too much water and the sodium levels in his body were too low. The condition can cause headache. I made a glass of Salted Lemonade, which was a quick substitute of Sports Drink, and told him to drink it. Guess what happened. After he drank it, his headache quickly disappeared. This is how I made the Salted Lemonade. I am sharing this recipe hoping this information might help someone.
Ingredients
1 cup (250ml) Water
1 to 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
1 to 2 tablespoons Sugar *I added 1 & 1/2 tablespoons
1/8 teaspoon (1g) Salt *400mg Sodium
*Note: This amount of Salt makes the Lemonade saltier than common Sports Drinks. 1/16 teaspoon (0.5g) Salt is close to the recommended amount for Sports Drink.
Method
- Combine all the ingredients. Alter the amount of Lemon Juice and Sugar to suit your taste.
- *Note: Be cautious about the amount of Salt if the person who drinks this Lemonade has medical conditions that can be affected by the Salt intake.
