If you are doing financially tough, stock Canned Tuna. You can cook loads of delicious and nutritious dishes with it. Have a look at the list of ingredients below. I believe most people have them all. This rice dish can be cooked with those staple ingredients and won’t cost much at all.

Ingredients

2 cups (*180ml cup) Short / Medium Grain Rice
360ml Chicken Stock
1 to 2 teaspoons Soy Sauce
1 tablespoon (15g) Butter *cut into small cubes
1 tablespoon Curry Powder
1/2 Onion *finely chopped
1 Tomato *cut into small pieces
1 can (95g) Tuna *drained, I used Tuna in Springwater
1/2 cup Frozen Peas *thawed
Salt & Pepper

Method
  1. Wash Rice, drain the water, and place into the rice cooker’s inner pot.
  2. Add Chicken Stock and Soy Sauce (OR Salt), and stir. Add Butter and sprinkle with Curry Powder. Then scatter Onion, Tomato and coarsely flaked Tuna. DO NOT stir.
  3. Press ‘COOK’ button to start cooking. When the rice is cooked, add Peas, and let it steamed for 10 minutes. Then mix gently. Add extra Salt & Pepper if required.
