Spicy_Almonds

How can I translate a Japanese word ‘Otsumami’ into English? It is not ‘Appetiser’ or ‘Snack’. ‘Otsumami’ is something to nibble often with drink which is most likely alcoholic drink. On the other day I needed to make ‘Otsumami’ quickly for an unexpected occasion and this ‘Spicy Almonds’ was perfect.

Ingredients

1 cup Almonds OR Roasted Almonds
1 tablespoon Olive Oil

Chilli Seasoning
1 & 1/2 teaspoons Dried Oregano
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cumin
1/2 teaspoon Ground Chill
1/2 teaspoon Ground Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon fine Salt

Method
  1. Combine all the Seasoning ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Place Olive Oil and Almonds in a frying pan, cook on medium heat, tossing occasionally, until aromatic. *Note: If you use already roasted Almonds, use 1/2 tablespoon Oil and just heat up the Almonds.
  3. Add the seasoning and coat the Almonds. Place paper towel on a plate, spread the Almonds on the paper towel and cool completely.
