‘Goma-ae’ is a very popular Japanese dish and it is made with ‘Goma-ae’ sauce, which is a sweet sauce of ground toasted sesame seeds and it goes very well with many vegetables. Sometimes ‘Kurumi’ (Walnuts) is used instead of Sesame Seeds, and the dish is called ‘Kurumi-ae’. You can use Peanuts, and the dish is called ‘Peanut-ae’. This ‘Peanut-ae’ sauce also goes very well with many vegetables.

Ingredients

350g Beans
*Beans can be replaced with Spinach, Carrot, Asian Mushrooms (e.g. Shiitake & Shimeji), Broccoli, Asparagus or other vegetables.

‘Peanut-ae’ Sauce
1/4 heaped-cup Roasted Unsalted Peanuts *ground OR finely chopped up
1 tablespoon Peanut Butter *optional
1 tablespoon Sugar
2 tablespoons Soy Sauce

Method
  1. Grind Roasted Unsalted Peanuts fairly finely. Add Peanut Butter, Sugar and Soy Sauce, and mix well to make sauce.
  2. Cut Beans into bite size pieces, boil in salted water until soft, then drain. Combine Beans and the sauce.
