No need to pre-cook or blanch Broccoli before stir-frying it. This method is so easy and works with any Oil. Today I used Sesame Oil because I wanted to mix the cooked Broccoli with Korean fried & seasoned seaweed called ‘Gim-gui’. Of course you can use Sushi Nori instead.

Makes

4 Servings

Ingredients

1 head (*about 300g) Broccoli *cut into small florets, thick stem sliced
2 to 3 teaspoons Sesame Oil
2 pinches Salt
2 to 3 tablespoons Water
1 packet Korean ‘Gim-gui’ OR 1 sheet Toasted Sushi Nori *torn into small pieces
Toasted Sesame Seeds OR Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix)

Method
  1. Heat Sesame Oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add Broccoli, Salt and Water, cover with a lid and steam-cook for a few minutes.
  2. When the Water is evaporated, remove the lid and stir-fry until slightly browned.
  3. Add ‘Gim-gui’ OR Toasted Nori, toss to combine, sprinkle with Toasted Sesame Seeds OR Shichimi (Japanese Chilli Spice Mix), and serve immediately.
  4. *Note: Alternatively, allow the Broccoli to cool, then mix with ‘Gim-gui’ OR Toasted Nori just before you serve.
