I am a big fan of Italian marvel ‘Affogato’. It is a treat of strong hot Espresso poured over cold Vanilla Ice Cream. This is my icy summer version of it. As I keep Espresso Granita in freezer, I can enjoy this treat anytime I want. Crunchy bitter Espresso Granita and melting sweet Ice Cream make a lovely combination.
1 cup Espresso OR 2 tablespoons Instant Coffee Granules & 1 cup Water
1 to 2 tablespoons Liquor OR Liqueur *e.g. Kahlúa, Brandy, Rum, Frangelico, Sambuca, etc.
Vanilla Ice Cream
- Make Espresso OR strong Coffee, add Liquor (OR Liqueur) and pour into a container. Set aside to cool completely, then place in freezer. Before it gets completely frozen, stir & scrape the mixture a few times.
- When you eat it, place some Granita on Vanilla Ice Cream, you may wish to pour some extra Liquor (OR Liqueur).
